ITINERARIES AROUND LA HIRUELA
ROUTE 2.- FOOTPATH FROM MILL TO MILL (4,5 Km – 1 h)

La Hiruela Ruta 2

We take the street behind the church, by the old way to Cardoso de la Sierra. The track is parallel to the orchards of the Perejón and descends by a stone zone until arriving at the stream of Umbría. Once we cross the stream, we cross an oak forest and we descend until arriving at a bridge on the Jarama river.
If we cross the river, we arrive at the term of Cardoso (Guadalajara), at the hermitage of San Roque, formerly included in the term of La Hiruela. If we walk a little more, at 300 ms we will enter into Cardoso village.
If we choose the route of the river, we must follow the mark of the footpath of fishermen on the right margin of the Jarama river. Walking, we arrive at the ruins of the “Molino de Juan Bravo”. We cross a bridge and we arrive at a forest, from where we cross a fence. Then, we arrive at a cascade where we observe a water capture fro the mill of La Hiruela. Here, we can rest in the recreational area where the mill is. Later, we take the left path to cross the Fuentecilla stream. We follow the track and we see in the other slope a traditional apiary of “corks”. We walk 200 ms until arriving at a diversion towards the image of the Virgin of Lourdes. Later we cross the stream and we continue the way to return to the village.
