LANDSCAPE. VALLEYS AND MOUNTAIN RANGES
The joint of the North, East and South sectors in valleys and mountain ranges contrasts with the western scope, a depressed sector, the valley of Prádena-Montejo, northeastern prolongation of the grave of Buitrago. This depression contacts with the mountain ranges of La Puebla through the fault of Berzosa, a tectonic accident of a great geologic importance. The reliefs of the north of this depression descend smoothly towards it forming relatively smooth slopes with modest valleys that divide this low sector, like the valley of Horcajuelo.
In this ample depression surrounded by smooth slopes, the biggest rural establishments are located (Horcajuelo de la Sierra, Prádena del Rincón and Montejo de la Sierra) to the time that, thanks to the smooth topography, the main agricultural activities were traditionally concentrated here. The Nava River and its affluents drain this ample valley excavating their channels on the slope deposits and in the cambric-ordovicic hard materials of the bottoms.
Sierra del Rincón presents, therefore, a singular landscape formed by a mosaic of meadows, rocky places, scrubs, reforested mounts and rural nuclei, organized around four valley bottoms or depressions (Depression of Prádena del Rincón - Montejo de la Sierra, Valley of Horcajuelo de la Sierra, Valley of La Hiruela and Valley of Puebla de la Sierra) surrounded by mountainous formations (southern foothills of the Cebollera bulk, Sierra de la Peña de la Cabra, Sierra del Rincón and mountain ranges of La Hiruela).
