LANDSCAPE. VARIETY AND QUALITY

One of the most relevant aspects of Sierra del Rincón is the variety and quality of its landscape. The municipalities of this zone are located in the northeastern sector of the Community of Madrid, limiting with the province of Guadalajara, in a mountain scope that belongs to the Spanish Central System in contact with Sierra de Ayllón and Somosierra. This transitional situation from Guadarrama reliefs towards Ayllón ones supposes a geologic and landscaping diversity within the Community of Madrid that has a clearl reflection in the singularity of this territory.

The smooth and homogenous summits of Guadarrama and Somosierra mountain ranges are interrupted in Somosierra pass by the fault that crosses this scope and favours the fitting of the near fluvial channels. From this sector, the Cebollera bulk, composed by gneissic materials, is raised in its western slope while schists penetrate in the Eastern one, forming edged summits and with characteristic reliefs of these litologies. Sierra de Ayllón begins here, in which slate, schistose and quartzitic materials form the base of steep and rocky slopes and edged summits.
