FLORA
A great diversity of Mediterranean natural habitats is present in Sierra del Rincón, like pine groves (fundamentally wild pine), which occupy the greatest extension of the Reserve, scrubs formations (brooms, small size acidophile scrubs, heather groves, lavender groves, thyme groves, rockrose groves, etc.), oak groves (of Quercus pyrenaica and Quercus petraea), holm oak groves, beech groves (formation of special interest due to its singularity and exclusive of the nucleus zone of Hayedo de Montejo), ashs trees groves, riverside forests, pastures for the cattle farming and rocky places.

Furthermore, the Reserve displays a great wild flora biodiversity, which makes that this territory has a great ecological value. 833 species of flora have been inventoried, of which 694 are vascular flora and 139 nonvascular flora (lichens, bryophytes and fungi). A great number of species is threatened and legally protected, they are endemic or with a little distribution in the Mediterranean environment; in particular, 66 are rare, endemic or are including in the Regional Catalogue of Threatened Species.
On the other hand, some varieties of cultivated domestic plants are conserved in Sierra del Rincón, which contribute, still more, to the genetic diversity conservation in this territory.
