NATURE
The transitional situation of the Biosphere Reserve, between the reliefs of the mountain ranges of Guadarrama and Ayllón, has its reflection in the singularity of this territory and its nature, with exceptional values that deserve to be conserved. Sierra del Rincón contains a high diversity of habitats: pine groves, oak groves, holm oak groves, beech groves, pastures, broom groves and scrubs, rocky places, etc.

The wild species richness is also truely singular, with 833 species of flora, 66 of which ones are rare, endemic, catalogued or threatened.
Also, the variety of fauna is very important, with 194 species of vertebrates, 140 of which ones are rare, endemic, catalogued or threatened.
On the other hand, some varieties of cultivated domestic plants and traditional native cattle breeds are conserved in Sierra del Rincón, which contribute to the genetic diversity conservation.
