The functions that all Biosphere Reserve must satisfy are the following ones:

• Conservation of genetic resources, species, ecosystems and landscapes.
• Sustainable economic and human development.
• Logistic support for the achievement of activitites of research, education, training and permanent observation at local, national and world-wide level, relative to conservation and sustainable development.
